SOPRANO DAWN UPSHAW AND PIANIST EMANUEL AX
ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17

Carnegie Hall has announced the complete program for the recital by soprano Dawn Upshaw and pianist Emanuel Ax on Wednesday, March 17 at 8:00 p.m. In addition to the previously announced songs by Chopin and Schumann, the program will include the US premiere of Stephen Prutsman’s Piano Lessons, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall and written for Ms. Upshaw and Mr. Ax. Also announced are three solo piano works by Chopin to be performed by Mr. Ax on the program: Four Mazurkas, Op. 41; Nocturne in C-sharp Minor, Op. 27, No. 1; and Nocturne in D-flat Major, Op. 27, No. 2. As previously announced, the program will no longer feature a new work by Osvaldo Golijov. The recital concludes Mr. Ax’s three-concert series at Carnegie Hall celebrating the 200th anniversary of the births of composers Frédéric Chopin and Robert Schumann, which began with a January recital with cellist Yo-Yo Ma and continued with a solo piano recital in February.
