CARNEGIE HALL PROGRAM UPDATES FOR 2009–2010 SEASON

Please note the following updates to Carnegie Hall’s 2009–2010 schedule, reflecting changes made since the beginning of the concert season. For complete details, please see the attached updated 2009–2010 season chronological listing.

PROGRAM UPDATE:

Violinist Christian Svarfar’s recital program with pianist Anders Kilström on December 4 now includes Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Piano and Richard Strauss’ Violin Sonata, replacing previously announced works by Debussy and Grieg.

ARTIST CHANGE:

Soprano Dorothea Röschmann will be joined in recital by pianist Malcolm Martineau on December 5, replacing pianist Graham Johnson.

PROGRAM UPDATE:

Pianist Peter Serkin has announced his solo piano recital program on December 10 to include works by Chopin, Debussy, Schoenberg, Gyorgy Kurtág and Charles Wuorinen.

EVENT UPDATE:

Country singer Shelby Lynne’s performance on December 12 will now begin at 10:00 p.m.

DATE CHANGE:

Fortepianist Andreas Staier will perform his all-Haydn recital on January 12 at 7:30 p.m.

EVENT UPDATE:

Ensemble ACJW’s performance at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY on February 5 will now take place in Ladd Concert Hall (replacing previously announced Filene Concert Hall).

PROGRAM UPDATE:

Pianist Emanuel Ax will now perform the world premiere of Thomas Adès’ Three Mazurkas on his February 10 recital program, replacing music by John Adams.

ARTIST CHANGE:

Mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina will perform a February 25 recital with pianist Dmitri Yefimov, replacing a program by mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená and pianist Yefim Bronfman.

ARTIST UPDATE:

Vocal soloists have been announced for the Mariinsky Orchestra’s performances of Berlioz’s Les Troyens, Parts I and II, under the direction of Valery Gergiev on March 9 and March 10.

Kronos Quartet has announced repertoire for its all-Terry Riley program on March 11. The Young People’s Chorus of New York City, under the artistic direction of Francisco J. Nuñez, will join Kronos for this performance.

ARTIST UPDATE:

Countertenor Daniel Taylor will join Ensemble ACJW for their March 24 performance, conducted by Thomas Adès.

EVENT UPDATE:

So Percussion’s performance on March 25 will now begin at 9:30 p.m.

EVENT UPDATE:

The concert by West African ngoni player Bassekou Kouyate, scheduled for March 26, will now begin at 10 p.m.

PROGRAM UPDATE:

Pianist Yefim Bronfman will perform Jörg Widmann’s XI Humoresken on his solo piano recital program on April 12, replacing music by Magnus Lindberg.

PROGRAM UPDATE:

Tap dance artist Maurice Chestnut has been added to the double-bill program with vocalist Greetja Bijma and pianist Louis Andriessen on April 14. Mr. Chestnut replaces Savion Glover.

PROGRAM UPDATE:

Pianist Kit Armstrong has announced his solo piano recital program on April 23 to include works by J.S. Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Liszt, and Ligeti.

DATE CHANGE:

The performance by trumpeter Jon Faddis, previously announced for April 29, will now take place on Tuesday, April 27 at 8:30 p.m.

EVENT UPDATE:

Mexican folk ensemble Sones de México’s performance on May 7 will now begin at 10:00 p.m.

NEW EVENT:

Ensemble ACJW will perform at (Le) Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village on June 13.
