(Grades 9–12)
Music of India | Music of Mexico

2009–2010 Season Information

Cultural Exchange offers the opportunity to connect your classroom to the world. In this yearlong program, students and teachers explore the music and culture of New York, and the chosen focus country through sequential lessons. As part of the 2009–2010 program, students around the world and in your classroom will have the opportunity to engage in creative, music-making projects and exchange ideas with participants around the world through an online community and two videoconferenced concerts.

The 2009–2010 program offers the opportunity to choose between a program focused on the Music of India and a program focused on the Music of Mexico.

Cultural Exchange: Music of India

The 2009–2010 program explores both New York jazz, and the wide-ranging musical styles and cultures from around the Indian subcontinent. Study of improvisation, rhythmic and harmonic modes, musical texts, and traditional forms culminates in a concert in Zankel Hall.
