Please note, registration for season 2010–2011 is closed. You may register for season 2011–2012 starting April 11, 2011. Registration for Perelman American Roots 2011– (with final student numbers) is due September 1, 2011. Any registrations received past this date will be added to a waitlist and only enrolled if space permits. In the event that a space opens up, teachers will be notified directly by Carnegie Hall staff.

No. Perelman American Roots is designed for both music teachers and general classroom teachers working with students in Grades 6–8.

Only teachers implementing the curriculum directly with students are considered participating teachers, who must register, attend the required professional development workshops, and attend the concert. Teachers attending the concerts but not implementing the curriculum are considered chaperones. Please call 212-903-9625 with questions.

For schools paying via purchase order, a copy of your PO must be submitted by October 25, 2011 via fax to 212-903-0778 or via email to secondaryschoolprograms@carnegiehall.org. Payment for Perelman American Roots in full is due by May 1, 2012.

Professional Development Workshops

Yes, every participating teacher is required to attend both Perelman American Roots professional development workshops regardless of past participation in the program. Teachers who do not attend both required workshop sessions will forfeit participation in the program.

All Perelman American Roots professional development eorkshops take place at Carroll Studios, located at 625 West 55th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues.

There are several parking garages located near Carroll Studios. The easiest way to find these is to visit Best Parking. This website provides you with an estimate of how much it will cost and locations. There is also parking located on the east side of 11th Avenue (West End Avenue) between 57th and 58th Streets, at 622 West 57th Street between 11th and 12th avenues, or at 641 West 59th Street between West End Avenue (same thing as 11th Avenue) and 12th Avenue.

Materials
When will I get my Perelman American Roots materials?
Your Perelman American Roots materials will be distributed at your initial professional development workshop. If you are participating with a large number of students, your student books will be mailed to you within 2–3 weeks of your attending the fall workshop. Please note that materials will not be sent out until you have completed the required professional development workshop.

The Perelman American Roots program does not issue physical concert tickets. Rather, the ushers will have a list at the entrance to Zankel Hall with the number of students, teachers, and chaperones you are bringing.

One chaperone (parent, teacher, etc.) ticket is included at no cost for every 10 students. For example, if a teacher enrolls a class of 30 students, he or she will automatically receive 30 student seats, 3 chaperone seats, and 1 seat for him/herself, a total of 34 seats. Extra adults, subject to availability, are an additional $6 each. Please note that parents/adults may not purchase individual tickets. Additional adult tickets must be reserved by the participating teacher on the registration form.

If parents are interested in attending, they must attend with their child's class as a chaperone or as a pre-arranged additional adult. Please note that tickets are available only via teacher registration and not on an individual basis.

Doors open 30 minutes before each Perelman American Roots concert. As these events are general admission (no assigned seats), the earlier you arrive, the closer you will be to the stage. Entry to the hall will not be granted earlier than 30 minutes prior to each performance.
