A Streetcar Named Desire

Renée Fleming, as part of her Perspectives residency at Carnegie Hall this season, is joined by an all-star cast for André Previn’s acclaimed opera A Streetcar Named Desire, based on the play by Tennessee Williams. The work premiered at the San Francisco Opera in 1998 with Fleming in the lead role of Blanche. The San Francisco Chronicle said of her performance, “Fleming was the Blanche of Previn’s dreams, an artist imbued with the secrets of legato singing.”
