Neighborhood Concert: Regina Carter

The Schomberg Center
Wielding her fiery violin, jazz musician Regina Carter delves into the heart of the African spirit with Reverse Thread, her latest project exploring the fusion of contemporary American jazz and African folk tunes. She’s joined by accordion, guitar, bass, drums, and the kora—a 21-string West African harp traditionally played by village storytellers. Funded by a MacArthur Fellowship “genius grant,” this project captures the powerful narrative force found in African music, integrating field recordings of singers into a fast-paced, energetic performance.
