Neighborhood Concert: Sameer Gupta's Namaskar

Harlem Stage Gatehouse
Sameer Gupta is known as one of the few percussionists simultaneously representing the traditions of American jazz on drumset and Indian classical music on tabla. From bebop to avant-garde jazz, European classical percussion to North Indian classical tabla, Gupta composes and performs music from a multi-cultural perspective that bridges several continents. He lives in Harlem and is actively involved in performance and teaching through Carnegie Hall's Global Encounters program focusing on the music of India.

Gupta’s new album Namaskar, co-produced with his longtime associate pianist Marc Cary, is available on the Motéma Music label. Stay after the concert for the release party and meet the band members!
